This is one of many beautiful lino prints by Hannah Skoonberg which I came across on the Printeresting website.
I really like the nature-inspired subject matter of her prints which brings to mind Caspar David Friedrich and Mariele Neudecker. However, Skoonberg’s work has none of the fraught romanticism of Friedrich or the postmodern archness of Neudecker, instead creating a humble, quiet atmosphere - reminiscent of the Zen Buddhist influences on her work.
The interplay between this humility, the delicacy of the line and colour and the technical excellence of the printmaker creates some very beautiful and satisfying images.
