Very excited to learn today that two of my influences (musical and visual) are teaming up for a project: Birmingham’s finest, Broadcast, and graphic designer Julian House’s band The Focus Group have teamed up for an EP. This is due out in October.
In the meantime I’ve got the Ghost Box back catalogue on heavy rotation – featuring Belbury Poly’s ‘The Willows’ in all its Radiophonic Workshop/Programmes for Schools and Colleges splendour.
One of my favourite films, Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samouraï has got it all – stripped-down aesthetics, an unstoppable plot, a beautiful soundtrack and impeccable direction.
This film has been a massive influence on my art and design, in the choice of colours and use of photography and juxtaposition. A real masterpiece.
